Conquer the Mind, Conquer the World
Staying Resilient — A Youth Workshop on the Mind & Inner Strength

Rooted in Gurbani and built for the real lives of Sikh youth, this workshop guides young minds to recognize what they feel, process it with strength, communicate openly with family, and build their own toolkit for resilience — all in language that honors both their faith and their everyday world.

01

Understanding Emotions

ਸਮਝ · Samajh

We teach youth to identify and name their emotions beyond "I'm fine."

  • Learn what the Mann (ਮਨ) — the mind — is and why Gurbani speaks about it so deeply
  • Build a real feelings vocabulary: anger, sadness, jealousy, joy, fear, calm
  • Understand that Chardi Kala (ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਕਲਾ) means rising spirit — not pretending to be happy

02

Processing Emotions

ਹਿੰਮਤ · Himmat

Youth learn to sit with difficult feelings and work through them instead of burying them.

  • Recognize the Panj Chor (ਪੰਜ ਚੋਰ) — five thieves: anger, greed, attachment, ego, desire — as real feelings to manage
  • Practice catching emotions before they take over
  • Learn the difference between reacting and responding through Gurmat teachings

03

Communicating with Parents

ਗੱਲਬਾਤ · Gallbaat

We bridge the generational gap — helping youth open up and helping families truly listen.

  • Practice starting hard conversations at home with care and respect
  • Move beyond "sanu koi loṛ nahīṁ" (we don't need that) — reframe common responses with warmth
  • Bilingual parent guide provided so families can support learning from home

Coping Skills

ਸਾਧਨ · Saadhan

Every young person builds their own Basta (ਬਸਤਾ) — a personal toolkit of what actually helps.

  • Simran (ਸਿਮਰਨ) — meditation and focused breathing rooted in Sikh practice
  • Waheguru Breathing, journaling, grounding exercises, creative expression
  • Knowing when to ask for help — and being there for others through Sangat (ਸੰਗਤ)
ਬਸਤਾ Basta — Toolkit ਸੰਗਤ Sangat — Community
