The TherapaJi Podcast
Real Talk. Real Stories. No Filter.
Conversations about identity, family, and mental health that South Asian communities don't have at the dinner table.

Real Talk. Real Stories. No Filter.
What This Is About
This isn’t another mental health podcast where someone reads you a list of coping skills and tells you to drink more water.
The TherapaJi Podcast is where we have the conversations South Asian families don’t have at the dinner table. Identity. Family expectations. Mental health stigma. The weight of being first-gen. The stuff you think about at 2 AM but never say out loud.
We sit down with therapists, community leaders, first-gen voices, and everyday people who have something real to share — not rehearsed, not polished, just honest.
Because the first step to changing the conversation around mental health in our communities is actually having one.
What You’ll Hear
Family Expectations & Boundaries — How to honor your parents and still have your own life. Why “just set boundaries” is terrible advice when your mom calls three times a day.
Bicultural Identity & Code-Switching — The exhaustion of being “too American” for your family and “too Indian” for your friends. What it costs to translate yourself every day.
ADHD & Anxiety in South Asian Communities — Why so many of us get diagnosed late. What it looks like when “you’re so smart, just try harder” is the only feedback you’ve ever gotten.
Sikh Mental Health & Spirituality — The connection between faith and mental wellness. How Gurbani, seva, and sangat can be part of the picture — not a replacement for professional support.
Therapy Stigma & Generational Patterns — “Log kya kahenge” and why it keeps people suffering in silence. How to break the cycle without breaking the relationship.
Burnout & the “Model Minority” Myth — The pressure to perform, the guilt of resting, and what happens when the high-achiever machine finally breaks down.
